Welcome to the 305
Miami is one of the state’s – and the world’s – most popular vacation spots. Why, well here are just a few reasons!
Did you know Miami offers 35 miles of beaches and just any beaches? Some of the most gorgeous in the world.
Miami is known as the 305, which is the area code of the city. One of the pastimes is to have a nice shot of Cuban coffee at 3:05 pm. There is nothing like a nice strong shot of Cafecito in the afternoon, it is a mix of espresso coffee with a generous amount of sugar. Speaking of Cuban pastimes, you must visit Calle Ocho, grab some Cuban food at Versailles, check out Domino Park to see locals play their favorite game of dominos, not far from the park is Ball & Chain a great spot for drinks, food and live music or if you are in the mood for Flamenco dancing and Spanish dining check out Cava Flamenco lounge, also on Calle Ocho.
Fun for Families
Key Biscayne’s Crandon Park is a must. Fabulous place to bring young children. The local concessions rent canoes, paddleboards, kayaks, and more. Calm water makes it an easy spot to watch the little ones. There is a mangrove boardwalk and a nature center. It’s also a great spot for hiking, golf, and tennis courses, and picnic facilities are just a few of the available amenities.
Also worth checking out is Matheson Hammock Park. It’s another location great with little ones.
A good general rule to keep in mind: The further north you go on the Miami shoreline, the more local and quieter the beaches are.
So I have to be honest. Food in Miami………. Simply amazing. I could go on for pages and pages and give you hundreds of restaurants to try in Miami. But that obviously would take too long. So I have narrowed it down and I’m giving you “suggestions” of restaurants you should try out.
Miami Spice is a discount dining program that is offered from Aug 1-Sept 30. This is a good time to explore Miami’s fabulous cuisine.
Nightlife in Miami……. Let’s just say there are no shortages of places to explore. Again, there are way too many to list here, but I’ll give you some that I suggest you try!
